Liuzhou Museum was first built in 1959, it is a national key comprehensive museum with advanced facilities and modern functions and one of the landmark buildings in the city of Liuzhou. It occupies an area of 39 mu with 16,600 square meters of building areas. It has developed into the center of preservation, display and research of cultural relics in the middle areas of Guangxi after 50 years’ construction. In 2009, the exhibition “ the Travel of Life ” won the “ Best Producing Award ” of the eighth “ National Top Ten Exhibitions” .
The building is styled in ancient city watchtowers and built with granite. it’s elegant and dignified, its outer verandas are decorated with 21 relief sculptures which imply Liuzhou in the 21st century and 2100 years’ long-lasting history and reflects prehistoric civilization, historical culture, nationality culture and modern culture of Liuzhou etc.
Total cultural relics stocked in the museum ranks the first in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, many collections have considerable local characteristics and become national treasures for its exquisiteness and rareness. Paleontology Fossil, Liuzhou Historical Culture, Liuzhou Minority Customs, Ancient Bronze Arts and Ancient Fan Painting & Calligraphy etc. are basically displayed in museum, cultural relics objects vividly and thoroughly reproduce Liuzhou’s historical style and features in different historical stages by the way of composition, represent elegant demeanor of the ancient city with classical appearance, call cultural pass and inheritance with classical strength and succeed ancient civilization with classical chain link.
