Gallery of Liuzhou Inkstones

Liuzhou Inkstone has been around for thousands of years since the beginning of the Tang Dynasty. It is famous for the story that once a inkstone was sent as a gift From Liu Zongyuan to his friend Liu Yuxi. When Liu Yuxi received the gift, he wrote a poem in return to his Friend Liu Zongyuan , which has become a great literary story for thousands of years. Liuzhou Inkstone is one of the four famous inkstones, which started to be used as a practical tool for writing by the literati in the Tang Dynasty.

As the stone is buried deep in the Liujiang River, it is extremely difficult to mine, and there are very few historical records about it, so it gradually faded from the literati's desk. In order to fully explore the history and culture of Liuzhou, Liuzhou Museum has invested a lot of energy in exploring the history of Liuzhou inkstone, also to mine those raw stones and create art works with them.

The exhibition displaces both the ancient ink stone and many modern creations.
